A mixed-use commercial property on 21st Avenue South needed more than another surface patch. Pavement Solutions completed a subsurface drainage retrofit tying a new catch basin into the existing system, then restored the driving surface at grade.

The project

Drainage repair that reached below the asphalt

The August 2026 work created a defined collection path through a 1.66-acre commercial site instead of treating the visible pavement symptoms alone.

Open the channel

Utilities were located before approximately 234 linear feet of asphalt was saw-cut and removed. The crew excavated a 24-inch-wide path across the lot.

Build the drainage route

A new catch basin was connected to the existing basin with approximately 220 linear feet of 8-inch corrugated HDPE pipe. Thirteen linear feet of heavy-duty 8-inch trench drain completed the intake.

Restore the surface

The pipe channel was backfilled with 5,000 PSI concrete and broom-finished at pavement grade. Removed material was hauled to an approved off-site facility.

The completed route carries water from the trench drain through the new basin connection while keeping the lot usable at the surface.

After completion, the system was recorded during rainfall with water moving into the new trench drain. It is the part of the project that a finished photo cannot show.
