Spotlight 1

A large food distributor in Nashville contacted us about a complete overhaul of their parking lot. They operate a perishable warehouse that is open 24/7/365. They receive truckloads of fruits and vegetables all day and deliver fresh produce to customers through the greater Nashville area. The area of most concern was the gravel parking area for their local route delivery trucks. This area had very large potholes that stayed filled with water and presented problems for the route trucks to navigate and damaged the trucks. Also the road that led to the route truck delivery area and staff parking area was in very bad shape with potholes and damaged asphalt.

Solution:

Pavement Solutions presented a comprehensive plan with competitive pricing and was awarded the project. We worked closely with the distributor’s management team to make sure there was no interruption of delivery service to the warehouse or local deliveries to customers throughout the Nashville area. First, we removed the damaged roadway and put in a stone base for the roadway as well as added stone and leveled the route delivery truck area. Next, we did the paving overlay at the entrance to allow for the tractor trailer deliveries to the warehouse to continue without any interruption of service. The delivery route trucks were moved off site to allow for a clear and safe work area. The paving overlay process took 3 full days to complete with binder course and topping. The entire parking lot received new pavement. We were asked to replace damaged concrete wheel stops in the staff parking lot as well. We installed 32 new concrete wheel stops. The parking lot got a new striping layout with number stenciling to help with the route delivery truck bay assignments. Staff parking lot also received new striping. The project was completed in 5 days.

Spotlight 2

A leading telecom company located in Nashville, TN contacted us about their parking and drainage issues. The asphalt had deteriorated beyond repair because of excessive water runoff from a hillside behind the parking lot. The area was basically not a useable space to park vehicles any longer.

Solution:

Pavement Solutions provided a plan that would fix the drainage issues and we were awarded the project. First, we excavated and removed the damaged asphalt. An existing concrete flume was filled with debris and mud, so we cleaned this out and extended the concrete by 70 liner feet to capture more of the water runoff from the hillside. Knowing that during a substantial rain the water volume would overflow the concrete flume, we erected 180 linear feet of 3-foot-high concrete wall to stop in excessive from reaching the parking lot. The new wall diverted the water to the concrete flume which took the water to the corner of the parking lot where there was an exit area. We installed a new concrete dumpster pad and 8,000 square feet of new pavement. Re-installed the chain link fencing, added Rip Rap on the hillside to mitigate the erosion during a rain and restriped the parking lot.
